Glashedy Links – A Modern Masterpiece

Designed by Pat Ruddy and Tom Craddock and opened in 1995, the Glashedy Links is a true modern masterpiece, sculpted around Ballyliffin’s towering dunes. Known for its dramatic elevation changes, undulating fairways, deep revetted bunkers, and fast, sloping greens, Glashedy demands precision and strategy at every turn.
Golf course architect Pat Ruddy, renowned for his work at The European Club, has remained closely involved with Ballyliffin, regularly refining and enhancing the course to maintain its elite standard.

Despite being established only in 1947, Ballyliffin Golf Club has rapidly gained international recognition as one of the finest golf destinations in the world. Situated at the northernmost tip of Ireland, at the gateway to the Wild Atlantic Way, Ballyliffin is now a must-visit for discerning golfers seeking championship-level links golf in a breathtaking setting.

Home to two exceptional championship courses—Glashedy Links and The Old Links—Ballyliffin is unique in offering two contrasting yet equally world-class golfing experiences on one site.

The Old Links – A Timeless Classic

Originally opened in 1973, The Old Links has evolved significantly from its early design, which featured contributions from Eddie Hackett, Lawrie, and Pennick, as well as members of the club. Later, Pat Ruddy and Tom Craddock made further refinements while designing the Glashedy Links, and in 2005-2006, Nick Faldo introduced additional upgrades, fine-tuning the course into a true championship challenge.
With its rolling fairways, natural contours, and breathtaking views of the Atlantic, The Old Links offers a more traditional links experience, rewarding shot-making and creativity.

With two world-class courses, a rich tournament history, and a spectacular coastal setting, Ballyliffin Golf Club stands as a must-play destination for any golfer visiting Ireland. Whether you're tackling the modern test of Glashedy Links or the classic charm of The Old Links, Ballyliffin promises an unforgettable golfing experience on some of the finest links terrain in the world.
